What is Hair Removal?
hair removal is a process which uses intense pulse light (IPL) to remove unwanted hair.
The IPL emits high energy pulses of light which travels down the hair shafts to the hair follicles, where it is absorbed.
The laser energy is then transformed into heat and destroys the follicle, preventing the reproduction of further hair growth.
The Difference Between IPL and Laser Hair Removal
Generally the difference between the two is that IPL machines emit a wide spectrum of all wavelengths of light energy, giving versatility to treat a broad range of targets. Whereas laser emits a light source of energy at a specific wavelength which destroys only a specific target.
What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated?
All areas of the face and body can be treated, including once sensitive areas such as, chest, back, bikini and brazilians, with relatively no pain.
How Effective is IPL?
IPL laser hair removal will cause a dramatic and permanent hair growth reduction. No hair removal system can guarantee permanent hair removal completely. In saying this, IPL is extremely effective at destroying most of the targeted hair follicles. The larger majority will experience a huge reduction with each treatment, with very little hair regrowth, and depending on the individual, some with no regrowth at all.
How Many Treatments Are Required?
For every person the hair growth pattern varies, and is determined by many factors, including hormones. There are 3 stages to the hair growth cycle. These stages are the anagen phase, which is the growing phase. The catagen phase, where the hair rests, and the telogen phase which is when the hair falls out.
Hair follicles can only be destroyed when they are in the growing phase, which is why it is impossible to completely eliminate hair growth completely, for most people, and in one treatment.
Usually multiple treatments are required for this reason. The number of treatments required depend on these factors and the specifics of each individuals skin type, hair colour, hair thickness and density. On average 6 to 7 treatments is recommended with 4 to 5 week intervals.
